VIRGINIA OPIOID ABATEMENT AUTHORITY SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDATIONS FOR AWARDS TO STATE AGENCIES FOR PERFORMANCE PERIOD 2026-2027

Executive Summary

The Virginia Opioid Abatement Authority (OAA) opened its Request for Proposals from Agencies of the Commonwealth on March 20, 2026, and accepted proposals through June 8, 2026. All proposals were submitted through OAA’s Grants Portal.

During the 2026-2027 proposal cycle, the OAA received 51 proposals, including 32 renewals of active projects and 19 proposing the establishment of new projects. The proposals request a total of $21,112,271.65 in OAA funding for 18 different agencies across areas of Health and Human Resources, Public Safety, Education, the Judicial Branch, and Independent Agencies. This includes 1 agency submitting their first proposal for OAA funding.

The recommendations herein are for the renewal of 32 active projects and the establishment of 8 new projects. All new projects are recommended to be funded from OAA’s Unrestricted funds.
